SweeTango Apples
We will be planting 400 SweeTango trees in the spring. We already have 150 trees that have been in the ground for two + years.
These will produce a limited number of apples which we will have available in our 2010 season!

Zestar Apples - U-Pick
As Zestar becomes available to harvest, the U-Pick season will start at the Orchard.
We will try hard to post the timing here, but call us so you don't miss the Zestar season.

2009 - Second Harvest Came Again.
From this year's harvest, Deer Lake Orchard contributed 20,000 pounds of apples to the Food Shelves.
Many, many different corporations, health care facilities and companies and Buffalo High School students participated.

In 2008, Deer Lake Orchard provided 13,000 pounds of apples to 2nd Harvest Food Shelves.
Volunteers from our area and the metro area came to harvest the apples. "Hats off to you, too!"

BEACON Early apple. Good for sauces & pie. Stays in chunks. Late August	ZESTAR Crisp, juicy, early apple. Great for eating New from U of M "An early Honeycrisp" Mid to Late August	RED BARON Crisp & juicy. Sweet/tart flavor. Cooks firm. Good for pie, sauce and freezing Mid September	FIRESIDE Very hard & sweet. Stays in slices when cooked like Connell Red Late September
CONELL RED Mild, sweet, low acid apple. Great eating and baked whole. Stays in slices Late September	MARYVILLE Good baking, bakes soft. Sweet, tangy eating	MINJON Tart. Makes pink sauce. Cooks soft. Good eating & cooking Early October	REGENT Sweet, juicy, hard, & excellent keeper. Good for eating or baking. Stays in slices when cooked. Early October

HONEYCRISP Crisp, sweet & juicy. Best keeping apple Mid September	PRAIRIE SPY Crisp, low acid. Good keeper. Excellent for pies. Early October	REDWELL Non-acid, tender skin. Good for eating, baking & sauces. Late September	ORIOLE Good Eating and baking apple. Cooks down somewhat. Stays white and low acid. Mid August
N. W. GREENING Hard. Good cooking, stays in slices. Late September/Early October	HONEY GOLD Very sweet & firm. Juicy and good for cooking. Early October	CHESTNUT CRAB Little apple with great flavor. Hint of nutty flavor. Early to Mid September	DOLGO CRAB The best jelly crab. Tastes like cherries in pies and pastries. Good for pickles. Mid August


Our CIDER is FRESHLY PRESSED in our cider room. Deerlake has been pressing delicious cider for over twenty years. Each batch is special because it contains different varieties of apples as the season progresses. Because apple varieties have their own distinct tastes and textures, our cider may vary in color and body, but it is always fabulous and oh, so healthy. CIDER CAN BE FROZEN, stored for long periods of time, defrosted and enjoyed with the same flavor as when first frozen. So STOCK UP when you visit us!!!!


	* FROZEN U-BAKE PIES ARE AVAILABLE* We take our fresh apples to a fabulous bakery, they hand make a crust, peel our apples and make an old fashion delicious pie especially for DEERLAKE ORCHARD. We have our steadfast customers that can’t wait for our season to start so they can enjoy our pies. OUR PIES ARE PART OF OH, SO MANY FAMILIES' HOLIDAYS! MAKE THEM PART OF YOURS!
